Tangosol Extends Data Grid Support to Microsoft .NET
Tangosol Inc., the leading provider of reliable data grid solutions, announced the general availability of Coherence for the Microsoft
.NET Framework, extending the power, scalability, and utility of
Coherence Data Grid to Microsoft .NET-based applications.
Coherence
Data Grid manages data in memory across data grids, offering scalable
performance that enables true linear growth; automatic, dynamic and
transparent reliability of data; and reduced latency and rapid data
access for customers, partners, and employees.
Microsoft
.NET-based applications and Java are the predominant infrastructures
for mission-critical enterprise applications and Web services. Since
its introduction in 2000, the .NET framework has come to be considered
a secure strategy for future application platform development, and
adoption of .NET continues to grow.
Companies such as Honeywell,
GlaxoSmithKline, Sony, Dollar Rent A Car, Farmers Insurance, and the
U.S. Postal Service are just a few of the well-known names that rely on
the .NET framework.
Coherence for the .NET Framework allows
Microsoft .NET applications to access Coherence clustered services,
including data, data events, and data processing from outside the
Coherence cluster. Typical uses of Coherence for the .NET Framework
include desktop and Web applications that require access to Coherence
caches.
This new offering from Tangosol provides native C#
connectivity to the Coherence Data Grid. It gives Microsoft .NET
applications first class access to data and services on an
enterprise-wide data grid, and all of the proven benefits of Coherence,
including the ability to:
- Reliably and predictably scale application performance.
- Enable enterprise-wide data virtualization.
- Increase the utility of back-end data sources.
- Perform powerful data grid based analytics, transactions and event processing.

at Wachovia, noted at a recent conference hosted by Waters Magazine.
Wachovia relies on grid computing for analytics in trading areas and
risk calculations for the market and credit risk areas.
