Pivot3 Joins Security Industry Association

HOUSTON, July 10 -- Pivot3 Inc., the inventor of virtual distributed RAID, today announced that the company has joined the Security Industry Association (SIA), a nonprofit international trade association representing electronic and physical security product manufacturers, specifiers and service providers. The company has recently launched its first video storage cluster solution, which offers up to five times the streaming performance at half of the cost of competitive solutions; the launch was marked by strong partner and customer interest. This new agreement with one of the security industrys most reputable organizations shows Pivot3s commitment to bringing the latest and most cost-effective storage solutions to the video surveillance arena while delivering ease of use, high scalability and impressive performance.

SIA is excited to welcome Pivot3 as a new member, said Richard Chace, CEO andexecutive director of SIA. "Storage is often one of the largest portions of a surveillance installation, and our members are looking forward to learning how they can securely store their fast-growing video surveillance data with storage technologies such as the one offered by Pivot3.

We are pleased to join SIA and show our customers and partners our commitment to the physical security market, said Jeffrey Bell, Pivot3 vice president of marketing. These environments need cost-effective high performance with high levels of data protection. Also, as most of the organizations from this space are new to networked storage, our easy-to-install, self-managing system is being enthusiastically embraced.

The Pivot3 RAIGE (RAID Across Independent Gigabit Ethernet) Storage Cluster breaks the performance and capacity limits of physical RAID devices by using block-level virtualization and completely eliminating specialized RAID hardware and storage controllers. With Pivot3 RAIGE storage cluster, organizations can store up to twice the video and support up to five times the data streams of other high-availability modular storage solutions. Space-efficient data protection is supported across multiple networked storage nodes, called Databanks, which are built using industry-standard x86 servers and disk drives and are connected via common Gigabit Ethernet. Databanks are added to cost-effectively scale capacity to hundreds of terabytes. Each Databank adds processing power, cache and network ports, contributing to the overall increase in performance and bandwidth.
